Donald The Joffrey: Let Your Eyes Feast on the Truth

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then what are these two pictures worth?

"How godlike, how immortal is he?...But the slave and prisoner of his own opinion of himself, a fame won by his own deeds. Public opinion is a weak tyrant compared with our own private opinion. What a man thinks of himself that is which determines or rather indicates, his fate."
--Henry David Thoreau

Of course, Mr. Thoreau never knew Mr. Trump.

  1. Mad Dog,
The dapper and dashing fellow in the portrait is much more of a feast for the eyes than the real McCoy, now isn't he. What better way for the Donald to jump start his ego each morning than to gaze at a much finer version of himself hanging on the wall. No wonder he has such a penchant for collecting portraits of himself.

I too am a patron of "myself as art". There are life size paintings of me throughout my home (think John Singer Sargent), with my favorite being the one on the living room ceiling that took the artist months lying on scaffolding to complete (think Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel).

Then there's the dozen marble busts of myself that I've commissioned-they add a bold touch to each room they grace-and make pretty dandy gifts to boot..

I think Mad Dog you need to follow the Donald's lead and get a portrait of yourself to hang over your mantel. Maybe you could be wearing something with a nautical theme(think Thurston Howell III)-like you just stepped off your yacht-now wouldn't that be grand and so patrician...works for Donald..

  2. Maud,
As always, you have given me something to consider.
Why is it so hard to take this man seriously?
Is it because he really actually has no ideas, no philosophy beyond, "Let's make a deal" or is it because he is the ultimate in the notion of the "empty suit?"
    There's just nothing there, there.
