Trump Stamps Out Crime in DC: Big Parade with Tanks to Follow

“I’ve straightened out crime in four days in D.C., and all they do is say ‘he’s a dictator,’” Mr. Trump complained on Mr. Starnes’s show.

“People were getting mugged all over the place,” he said, adding: “People are so happy, they’re going out to restaurants again.”

The true mark of a transcendent leader is his ability o see a problem before anyone else and to take decisive action to solve it.

Of course, there has always been crime in Washington, D.C., right down to the auction blocks for slavery, but then that crime was actually legal, so, technically, it wasn't really a crime.

And you know, those museums on the Mall where National Guardsmen from Red States now patrol--Mississippi, Louisiana and South Carolina--those museums all say slavery was really bad, and that's just so misleading. They are missing all the good things that happened when those slaves were busy picking cotton.

But, beyond that, there have been murders, rapes, muggings, although statistically, less often than in Mississippi, Louisiana and South Carolina.

But statistics are just numbers and like science, all that stuff is no longer of any moment. We don't talk about science any more.

We are just into theater. So Mr. Trump tells us he is going on a ride with D.C. police and with National Guard troopers from Mississippi, Louisiana and South Carolina to be sure crime is suppressed in Georgetown and Dupont Circle, and on the Mall around the museums and monuments, where the major risk to citizens is getting run over by bicycles and joggers and the major risk to police is getting hit in the face by a sandwich.

Mad Dog used to work in a part of DC called Bladensberg, and in those days, the road was lined with hourly motels and prostitutes tending their children in the parking lots outside the motels, and it was the sort of strip you did not want to blow a tire and have your car breakdown, because it would be stripped to spare parts in an hour.  So that was a tough part of town, but that's not where the Guardsmen from Mississippi, Louisiana and South Carolina are patrolling. They are walking down the mean streets of the West End, Foggy Bottom, where the ice cream parlors and expensive boutiques live.

No reason to expose those Southern gentlemen to any real risk--like mobilizing them in their own home states. Those guardsmen from Mississippi, Louisiana and South Carolina are probably tickled to get out of their home States, to Washington, D.C., where it's really pretty damn safe.

So, once again, we have a joke fantasy play from the imagination of a mind trapped in  arrested development, which never quite got by the nine year old boy's stage of just saying the world is so, and voila`, it is.

We can say we have stopped wars in Africa, and all over the world, and any moment now, in Ukraine, and we can say we don't need IVF because we now have "restorative fertility"  diets, and we can say there is no problem with job losses or an economy slapped silly by tariffs, or we can say all universities are dens of antisemitism, or at least the elite ones are, and so we should defund their cancer research funds, and we can blackmail big money law firms into making them work for the President and we can believe in Tinkerbell and Peter Pan and the crocodile with the ticking clock.

And the best part of it, is it's just such a happy feeling.

Just don't go round any of the children's hospitals, where kids are dying of infectious diseases they could have been protected from, and don't go near the cancer wards where research grants have been cut, and don't worry about the climate or the environment.

We can make America Great again, like it was in the 1950's, when you could not dip your toe into the polluted Potomac without risking life and limb--before the industrial giants upstream were forced by the government to clean up their dumping acts--but that's when government was good ,and did a lot of science.

  1. Lives are being saved in DC. Most crime victims in dc are poor and black or Hispanic. Thus, these lives don’t matter to leftist elitists whites just like mad dog who lives in Secure Enclaves. The real racists are rabid leftists who simply don’t care about minority lives unless they are somehow profiting from their exploitation.

  2. If you don’t care about Trump saving minority lives because of your leftist elitist ideology maybe mad dog can relate to this New York Times letter writer.

“Crime remains rampant in Washington, but it’s nothing new. I lived there from 1970 to 2009. Almost everyone I knew had been in some way victimized.

At night I carried a baseball bat while walking my dog in our affluent Chevy Chase neighborhood. During the day I locked the doors behind me when I took the trash down to the end of my driveway. I slept poorly when my husband was out of town, despite the fact that we had a home security system.

During those years I was mugged by three teenage assailants in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. My 19-year-old son had his bicycle taken from him in Chinatown by a group of thugs who had surrounded him. I had cars stolen twice, was awakened by a would-be intruder at my Capitol Hill townhouse and mourned two friends — a married couple — murdered during a home invasion in their Logan Circle neighborhood. One of my friends was raped, another recently slashed while entering his home.”

Oh, that hoary old gambit: The testimonial horror show!
Anyone carrying a baseball bat in Chevy Chase while walking a dog manifests some very obvious phobic pathology, and would likely have elicited an intervention by friends or police.
Mad Dog lived and worked in those very neighborhoods for nearly 3 decades and never once had, or even saw an incident of crime, but he was stopped once in a while by police, whose presence in those environs was and still is omnipresent, especially in the wee hours, when Mad Dog walked alone, particularly around Foxhall Road and the Georgetown campus.
Rampant, apparently, is in the eye of the beholder.
Crime occurs everywhere there are people.
Curiously, it's the Right wing nuts expressing such paralyzing fear about the "carnage" extant in America.
Really, BOT ANON, barricade yourself in your home; arm yourself with a 50 cal machine gun and a home howitzer and await the crime apocalypse. Or, alternatively, seek therapy.
Trump can't save you from that tidal wave of fear.
And, while you're at hit, you can wait for your electricity prices to fall, as Trump promised he would do for you, stymied as he has been by all those windmills attacking the indigenous bird population.

  4. Robot:
What Mad Dog finds particularly hilarious about Trump's chest thumping efforts to bring crime under control in DC is the fact that WDC with 547 police/100,000 population already has and has had for decades more police per capital than any American city.
So Trump's solution of flooding the zone with police has already been tried.
And that does not even count all the special police on the streets--embassy police, park police, METRO police, Capitol police, not to mention ATF, FBI, DEA, military police and what not.
One of the striking things about DC has always been the heavy visible police presence.
So flooding the zone has already been tried in DC.
Maybe, there might be some other solution to crime, such as it is, in DC.
Maybe we'll someday figure out while crime rates have fallen nation wide.
I'd bet on an aging population--street crime tends to be a young man's game.

  5. Mad Dog readers don't fall for Mad Dog statistical lies. The DC Metro police force lost over 700 officers in the wake of the George Floyd riots in 2020. The force has never recovered from its numerical depletion. The DC police force should be at and is authorized to be at 4,000 officers and it currently has a little over 3,150 officers. They are over 800 officers short, which translates to almost 25% understaffed, Check the facts; don't accept leftist propaganda.

  6. "Anyone carrying a baseball bat in Chevy Chase while walking a dog manifests some very obvious phobic pathology, and would likely have elicited an intervention by friends or police" so says Mad Dog. It seems Mad Dog is very upset by the notion that affluent elitists in Chevy Chase are now crime victims living in fear as affirmed by a NY Times letter writer. Should one deduce from your Mad Dog derision that it was ok when just the poor and minorities suffered such fears and victimization?

  7. For those readers sick of FAKE NEWS propaganda this article factually reports on the depletion in the DC police force:

  8. BOT ANON:
Ah, but you do not listen.
Your AI programming simply dredges up key words.
The DC police force is hardly the only police force in effect in DC. It remains the most highly policed city in the nation, even before those Mississippi/Louisiana/South Carolina keystone cop guard units arrived and started stumbling around the monuments and the Mall, no matter what losses the DCMP had.

The Chevy Chase letter writer is not revealing the state of danger in that upscale neighborhood but her own psychopathology. But robots cannot read between the lines.

The phony TRUMPED up picture of crime run wild in DC is a joke.
It's what tyrants and despots and simple minded power mongers always do: "OH! Our nation is about to collapse, and the only thing which can save us is for me to take total control and sweep the streets clean of all humanity, b/c, you know, humanity does CRIME!"
Hitler was very locked into that dance. So was Allende in Chile. So was Duterte in the Philippines. That's what tyrants do.
Not even original. Such transparent balderdash.
Our cities are where most of our people live, and where people live is where crime happens; but our more rural Southern states are where you are most apt to get murdered, raped or robbed by young white guys with guns.
If Trump was really serious about crime, he'd redeploy the guard to the Confederacy and rename the forts for Union generals rather than the traitors who fought for slavery.
Maybe, he'd go after those KKK fellows, some of whom now work for ICE.

  9. It is interesting that you cite duterte. He actually left office at the end of his term. He was indicted by the leftist European ICC who are now classified as criminals by the USA. The tyrants as you reference would appear to be unelected racist prosecutors in Europe not duterte. His popularity in the phillipines is the highest of any presiden from nation. Again you reveal your bias in favor of racist leftist elites this time in Europe. He admits taking draconian measures against drug gangs but it was to save the poor children of his nation from drugs and crime. Again it seems their lives mean nothing to affluent leftist elites.

  10. Another published dc resident testimonial that you can callously mock from your leftist elitist Ivy tower in your Secure Enclave.

I’ve been stalked, attacked, and held at gunpoint in D.C. Don’t tell me crime is under control.

People who don’t live in D.C. love to say that “crime is at an all-time low.” Pretty bold coming from someone working from home in another city. Catch and release policies are ruining this city.

Offenders are arrested, released almost immediately, and go right back to reoffending.

I know because I’ve lived it:

I was followed into my apartment building and escaped a man who attempted to assault me. I had to show up in court over five times in a year, reliving the trauma each time I walked into the courthouse. He served one day. The very next week he was arrested for the same crime.

I’ve been flashed on the metro.

I’ve been punched in the face on the metro.

I’ve had a gun pulled on me.

I’ve been tackled and pinned to the ground on the street while a man tried to tear my clothing off.

I’m grateful for what President Trump is doing in D.C. right now. He is doing what the leaders elected to run this city won’t do, protect the public.

Washington D.C. is the face of America. It should not be the face of lawlessness.

  11. Mad Dog I believe even one of your loyal followers on this blog has even rejected your intellectual insensitive derision of crime in DC, You should not be callous to crime victims and support law enforcement efforts.

  12. BOT ANON:
Your experience in DC is clearly far different than mine.
But neither of our experiences constitute a big picture.
Case reports are not clinical trials.
One crime is one crime too many.
But the issue here is not "what about" but the issue is what purpose does National Guard deployment serve?
Clearly, it's theater, not protection of the citizenry.
And not very good theater at that.

  13. These are published witness testimonials from your fellow citizens living in DC. I believe what they are saying. You mock them which typifies leftist elitist arrogance. That is my point.

Oh, I care every bit as much about the lives of Black, poor and disadvantaged as you do. You have no monopoly on caring about crime or its victims.

  15. Leftists may aver that they care but these elitists relaxed bail requirements refused to prosecute youths as adults refused to incarcerate repeat offenders allowed drug dealing in the public and installed left wing ideological prosecutors who are now being ousted. So leftist caring is not actually caring it is just posturing while watching crime inflict it’s bloody and emotional toll on the population.
